Here's a quick rundown of some stuff I've listened to and watched lately:
-MUSIC-
NIN: With Teeth ::
It took me a few listens, but it finally grew on me and I like it a lot. Not terribly addicting, but still a good album.
Team Sleep::
The "new" album might take a little while to grow on me. It was unfortunate that they never released the debut album, but if you'd like to take a listen, it's pretty easy to find online.
Sparta: Porcelain::
I just recently picked up this album even though it's been out for some time. I guess the recently released Mars Volta CD made me wonder what the rest of At the Drive-in was up to...and I was pleasantly surprised. It's a very good CD!
-MOVIES-
Appleseed (2005)::
This is the revamped 2D/3D animated version of the original Appleseed. The original Appleseed was one of the first feature length anime movies that I'd ever seen...but I don't remember anything about it, so I had not expectations. The animation is a little choppy at times, but it's very stylized and pretty. I'd recommend it.
Steamboy::
Very beautifully animated, however the story just wasn't there. I wasn't expecting it to top Akira, but it certainly could have tried. I may watch it again once it's on video since I saw the dubbed versio in the theater. I've heard that they're already working on a sequel (Steamgirl), but I think it's just rumor at this point. I guess I'd recommend to wait for the subtitled DVD.
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy::
I thought Sam Rockwell did a great job in the movie...but it was very slow in parts. I've never read the book, so I don't know how it compares...there were definitely some funny parts, but overall I think there was something missing.
