Looks like it will definitely be a trilogy, it's pretty obvious from Saw II that it was going to happen, but I'm surprised at how soon it is. It's due to be release this year (Oct 27th). Just in time for my anniversary.

I did like Saw II, but just not as good as Saw (I). What's up with the sound too. For you surround sound buffs, Saw (I) was in DTS-ES on DVD, but Saw II was only in Dolby EX. Maybe that's what helped Saw one for me too, more music, and more sound.
