Holiday Movie Blowout
What else is there to do during Xmas vacation? Watch movies, here's a quick rundown of what I've seen in the past few days:
*Little Miss Sunshine: excellent, really funny, everyone I saw it with loved it
*Lady in the Water: really good as well, I think I had to wait out all the "bad hype" that this movie got. I think I was in the mood for this movie, and it fully delivered. I don't see why people hated it so bad, maybe the expectations were too high, I didn't really have any.
*Miami Vice: not that great, I somehow got confused with all the "bad guys" that they kept introducing, but I also didn't watch it under the best circumstances, I was about 15 feet away from a 27" TV (4:3), and the movie was in crazy widescreen, which mean I was focusing on a picture that seemed 4 inches high and 10 inches wide :)
*Invincible: pretty good, it was a feel good movie, and at a good time...Xmas :) You don't go wrong with Disney movies too ofte (but yes, sometimes you do). It's kinda funny how I don't like sports, but movies about sports...OK.
*Can't Buy Me Love: yes, the one from 1987...still has its moments
*Beerfest: also has it's moments, but not near as good Super Troopers, but better than Puddle Cruiser and Club Dread. I am looking forward to Super Troopers 2 (announced, according to IMDB).
PS: Thank god for nudity in film!
*The Descent: not as scary as I thought it would be, but still good. I'd also recommend watching the commentary on the US ending vs. the UK (worldwide) ending.
Coming soon:
Black Dahlia
Last Kiss
Wicker Man
Also coming soon, I hope to write a little Year in Review of stuff that came out in 2006 that I enjoyed...or is it Year End Review? Who knows?
Come back soon!
