This is definitely an ad, but it seems to work pretty well and it's free so far. Mozy is an online backup solution, and currently it's free for home users (up to 2 GBs, they charge after that, but it's still really cheap).

Basically you install a program and tell it what to back up (you want to back up important stuff, like pictures, your house inventory, etc.). That way, if your computer crashes, or your house catches fire or whatever, you can still restore your important files.

From an IT person, I'm just letting you know that it's important to keep backups of important stuff since hard drives fail all the time.
